Australia is the land of the kangaroo. It is unlikely to find them in the big cities of Australia. You can, however, find them at a place known as Kangaroo Island, where you can find a bounty full of wildlife.
We have listed out some reasons of why an animal lover should visit this island.
Wildlife at one place
If you are a big fan of wildlife and love to watch, then this is the right place. Kangaroo Island is the place to watch some of Australia’s greatest native animals. Apart from kangaroos, you can see koalas, whales, pelicans, Australian sea lions, dolphins, and many more. It is also home to a healthy population of venomous snakes, including a Tiger snake.
You can reach here quickly as it is just 15 km away from the mainland. A ferry ride takes only 45-minutes to reach, or you can also take a plane.
No more fighting
The population of 4000 residents with 4,405 square kilometers of landmass, Kangaroo Island, is one of the places in Australia where you can breathe fresh. Many other places around the world attract tourists, but at Kangaroo Island, you don’t have to fight for a spot on the beach while trying to catch a glimpse of a koala.
An all-season place
Kangaroo Island is an all-year travel destination that is good to go whenever you want. Patterns of animal migration are different to watch in each season. Penguins can be seen during the time of autumn. May to February is the season to see adorable Australian sea lion pups and mama Seal Bay. You can see whales coming off the coast during winters. Though, you can find happy koalas, roos, echidnas, and dolphins all year round.
The joy of a weekend
All you need to have is a weekend to get the experience of this beautiful island. It requires investment, but if you are already in Australia and you’ve got yourself a weekend to spare, then no second thoughts to visit this place.
The food scene at Kangaroo Island is a bit of an over-achiever. It has delicious honey, which is unexceptionally pretty much liquid gold. This place also has the world’s best crayfish and the wineries, which will make your weekend trip much more fun.
Experience birding
Even if you may not consider yourself a twitcher, you may convert into one soon. If you visit Kangaroo Island, well, the chances are high. With more than 250 bird species, Kangaroo Island includes geese, emus, pelicans, eagles, falcons, albatross, cockatoos, owls, and many more. The best bird we can find at this island is the spangled grongo and the Australasian shoveler, which is the restless flycatcher.
